Gerry Sawtell
Gerry & Jim began Square Dancing in the Fall of 2001. They soon became interested in Round Dancing and joined a Round Dance Club in March of 2002. They have continued taking Round dance lessons weekly since that time. They enjoy dancing various rhythms (Waltz, 2-Step, Foxtrot, Cha Cha, Bolero, Jive, Rumba, Mambo, Quickstep, Slow Two Step, & Tango).

In the past, Gerry has cued locally at Round Dance Fund Raisers, at party nights for the Trackers Plus club as well as at EOSARDA and SVSRDA dances. She has also taught and cued at a camping weekend with the Riverside Gypsy Squares NSDCA, at T&D (Toronto and District S&RD) Conventions in St. Catherine's, Ontario as well as at the International Roundalab Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. Most recently she cued at the Canadian National Square and Round Dance Convention in Halifax NS.

In the Summer of 2006, Gerry and Jim attended the East Coast Leader/Cuer College in Salem, New Hampshire. Realizing the necessity to keep their techniques and knowledge up to date, each year they travel to attend conventions and special dances where they can learn current round dances and upgrade their own skills.

In the past they have attended Canadian National Conventions, a US National Convention, and countless Festivals and Special weekends both at home and away. Each May they spent a weekend of intense Round Dance lessons and Round Dance dancing in Pennsylvania. In June of 2009 they attended the International Square and Round Dance Convention held in Saskatoon and in July 2010, they attended and cued at the National Square and Round Dance convention in Halifax. Gerry has volunteered to help as a Round Dance Leader for Festival 2014, the Square and Round Dance Convention to be held in Ottawa. Gerry is currently the Secretary of the local (EOSARDA) Round Dance Teachers Association and both Gerry and Jim have been active members of the EOSARDA Board of Directors.

In addition to teaching a beginner Round Dance Class, taking lessons to advance their own dancing, and being resident Cuer Couple for the Capital Steppers PLUS club in Ottawa, they keep busy supporting the Round and Square dance functions both locally and at a distance.

Dancing keeps us happy, healthy and busy
The world is full of so many wonderful dancers!
